So, the Holocaust Memorial was vandalized last night. Someone took a rock and used it to shatter one of the panes.

It’s hard to articulate how this makes me feel, beyond personally violated.

There’s this idea that liberal parts of the US are somehow blissfully free of anti-Semitism, or even that anti-Semitism hasn’t been an issue in years. I’ve always known that neither of those things is true. But it’s still extremely devastating to get this sort of reminder.

We’ve spent our whole history surviving, and we’ll keep surviving. But I really wish that we could just live instead.
