flannel: what’s your favorite day of the year? is there a reason it’s your favorite?
November 17, probably?
It’s my baby brother’s birthday and since we stop celebrating b-days after age 13 in my family it’s the only one I still get to bake a cake and hung up balloons and buy presents for and that’s really fun! not to mention how nice it feels to see how much he enjoys it 😄
When I first started making fanart for this amazing fandom, I tried to make a “Simpatico” fancomic, that was actually my first big hit on my Tumblr, but I stopped it because I though “This is a good Idea, but I should wait to get better and try to re-do it when I improve my art work”… that day apparently never came so I decided to do it now! :v (sarcasm)
In other words, I finally got the (n)guts to decide move forward with this idea in a professional way and print it
later on! Script is done and comic pages will be coming through!
Now… here comes the part where I ask for your support : guys this will be a solo job, I’ve created the script, lines, flats and effects only by myself, so if you are interested to help me out with the creation of this, and would you like to be named on my first fancomic, please consider becoming a Patreon, and have early (+depending on the tier you get you can get bimestral commissions and a physical copy of this fancomic) and EXCLUSIVE ACCESS to the NSFW parts of this project
I saw some people post about how it was Tailgate that realized the planet-sized flaw in the plan and that got me thinking because, despite what most people (including myself initially), Tailgate is actually incredibly smart:
In mtmte #5, after Tailgate decides to become an Autobot and starts learning the Autobot’s code, Ultra Magnus informs us of a couple of important details about what said learning would entail:
A ten thousand pages military manual.
which they’ll go through “word by word, line by line" while analyzing each and every one of them “subjecting them to a series of ethical stress tests of philological ambiguity”.
Now I’m no expert on the matter but I did a little googling and the estimated amount of pages a law school student reads in a year is between 7,500 – 8,000.
which means Tailgate should rightfully be terrified considering that Ultra Magnus then followed it up with this:
A FEW WEEKS.
Tailgate is expected to cover more than a year of law school’s worth of reading material in great detail and deep understanding in A FEW WEEKS.
And the crazy thing is?
HE DOES. he passes the test.
Now they are 2 things you might say to dismiss this incredible fit of his:
1. Every Autobot must have studied it, can’t be that hard, right?
OH NO.
Everybody who didn’t need UM personal approval to become an Autobot learned the abridged version. I mean look at the standard Autobot. they did not go to law school to get there. sorry.
2. He says himself it wasn’t a good grade.
that might be it if you don’t take into account a very important fact:
Tailgate is a terrible speller.
not surprising considering he’s a very low-class bot, with probably less advanced linguistic programs. (which I am personally headcanoning as robo-dyslexia).
now I defy you to tell me Ultra fragging Magnus won’t take away points for misspellings. I DARE you.
AND HE STILL PASSED.
so yeah. he might not be Perceptor or Brainstorm or Nautica but Tailgate of Rivets field is one brilliant little minibot.
I don’t think you should feel bad about it at all though, it IS a big change from the character we all knew and love and he’s definitely not gonna resonate as much with the same audience who liked his previous incarnations.
It might not look like it from my blog since I try to look and talk mostly about the pros and what I like in the shows/comics but I have a lot of issues with this new show. I also had many with the 2012 series, and I actually ended up dropping it halfway through when I realized that watching a new episode was becoming a chore more than fun.
I don’t really like “terrible one-liners” Leo, almost as much as I don’t like “badly acts out leading fantasies from bad tv shows” Leo.
I hope this is too soon to judge and the show will become better once the plot kicks in (it is going to right???)
with that said, although I hope the show finds its feet soon and become better and that you’ll enjoy it more if you keep watching I think it’s important to remember that watching a show in a franchise you like isn’t an assignment, you don’t have to know or watch everything that comes out if you don’t enjoy it. thankfully the old shows don’t disappear when a new one comes out so you can revisit them and talk about them as much as you’d like (I’d LOVE to talk about anything if you’d like to message me about it!)
and don’t apologize! I LOVE hearing people’s opinion on these show and talking with other fans – that what I made this blog for!
