Volkswagen repeatedly refused to license the rights to use the likeness of the Beetle to Hasbro/Takara, due to not wanting to be associated with “war toys”. A New Beetle figure was very nearly produced years back for the Alternators/Binaltech subline, but VW reportedly pulled out after seeing the concept art. I don’t know if they’ve become more flexible about things since then, especially considering the Masterpiece figure…

they’re already associated with HITLER, are they saying “war toys” are worse?
one gag that never fails to make me lose my shit is when a character is shown next to a framed photograph of themselves, in the exact same pose as in the photo
it’s a mouthful to explain but god damn. that is comedy gold right there.
